Tahun 2020 akan tercatat dalam sejarah sebagai salah satu tahun terberat yang pernah dialami umat manusia. Tidak hanya menghadapi kejatuhan ekonomi secara bertahap, kita terus-menerus ditantang untuk menjaga kesehatan di lingkungan dengan pandemi Covid-19 yang menjulang tak terlihat.

Vitamin dan suplemen sekarang dianggap sebagai kebutuhan oleh sebagian besar populasi yang sadar akan pentingnya kesehatan. Pertama-tama mari kita perjelas tentang definisi vitamin secara umum.
Vitamin adalah nutrisi penting yang dibutuhkan oleh tubuh untuk dapat berfungsi dengan baik namun banyak dari vitamin tersebut tidak dapat diproduksi oleh tubuh kita sendiri. Biasanya kita mendapatkan vitamin dari diet atau aktivitas kita. Misalnya kita makan buah jeruk untuk mendapatkan vitamin C atau kita berjemur untuk mendapatkan vitamin D. Umumnya orang-orang mengkonsumsi suplemen dan vitamin untuk memastikan bahwa mereka mendapatkan nutrisi yang cukup untuk menjaga dan meningkatkan kesehatan mereka secara menyeluruh.

Salah satu pertanyaan yang paling banyak ditanyakan tentang vitamin melibatkan asupan harian. Amankah mengkonsumsi vitamin setiap hari? Selama masih dalam batas anjuran, vitamin telah dikonsumsi selama bertahun-tahun tanpa efek membahayakan.

Penting juga untuk mengetahui tipe vitamin apa yang akan kita konsumsi. Vitamin C dan E merupakan molekul antioksidan yang dapat mencegah kerusakan sel sehingga berfungsi untuk menjaga kesehatan tubuh secara umum. Vitamin D membantu tubuh menyerap kalsium. Vitamin B12 menjaga sel darah dan sistem saraf agar tetap sehat. Zinc membantu meningkatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh dan metabolisme, serta membantu penyembuhan luka dan meningkatkan indera perasa dan penciuman.
